Jeff “Tico” Tice graduated from Penn State University in 1977 with a BS in Electrical Engineering via an ROTC scholarship. He was an ROTC Distinguished Graduate and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. While flying F-16s with the 614th Fighter Squadron at Torrejon AB, Spain, Jeff deployed to Qatar as part of Operation Desert Shield and flew combat during Operation Desert Storm. In January 1991, while leading a large bombing mission deep in Iraq, he was shot down, captured and interred as a Prisoner of War. During his captivity he was primarily held in solitary confinement and endured extreme physical duress and deprivation. After his repatriation in March 1991, he returned to flying F-16s until retiring from the USAF in 1999. During 22 years in the USAF service he flew more than 3,000 hours in F-111, F-5 and F-16 jets. Following that retirement, he flew for American Airlines amassing over 10, 000 hours of flight time as a First Officer in the MD-80, Boeing 737, 757 and 767 aircraft on both domestic and international routes. He retired from American Airlines in 2012. Jeff has appeared on numerous television and radio programs including Larry King, The Today Show, and 60 Minutes. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Marines’ Memorial Foundation and is involved with several nationwide military-related charities. |
